About the Challenge

Hi readers

If you are in Kindergarten to Year 7 then grab a book and join me in this year’s reading challenge.

Joining in is easy: just read for up to 10 hours if you are in Kindergarten to Year 3 or 15 hours if you are in Years 4 to 7.

 How to join in

There are two ways for you to keep track of your reading and enter the Challenge.

1. Register online and create a reading profile. Keep track of everything you read online and send in your entry electronically when you have finished.
or
2. Visit your local library to collect a reading log or download one online. You can write down all your reading and either post your entry form to me or drop it in at your local library.

Competitions and fun stuff

This year I will be travelling around Western Australia, exploring some of our top holiday spots – and I need your help.

I am looking for the best place in Western Australia to read and I would like you to take me there. Simply download and print the picture of me and take me along with you on your summer holiday reading adventures. When you find your favourite place in Western Australia to read, get Mum or Dad to take a photo of us reading together and send it in!

I’ll be posting some of the best places on the website and there will be some great vouchers and rewards up for grabs.

I’ll also have heaps more competitions and fun stuff to do on the website during the Challenge.

Check out the Challenge blog where you can vote in my survey and let me know what you think about my hot topic of the week.

Why not draw a picture, write an acoustic poem or book review and send it to me? I would love to see what you can create, I’ll include some on the ‘your stuff’ page of the website and a few lucky kids will also receive a prize.

Prizes

Remember that everyone who finishes the Challenge will get a certificate signed by the Premier and also go into the draw to win lots of amazing prizes including an iPod Nanos, books from Fremantle Press and a family holiday to ‘Explore Western Australia’ thanks to QBE Insurance. Check out the prizes page to find out more.

Don’t forget that you can also raise fund for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of WA to help people in Western Australia living with MS. Check out the fundraising page to find out more.

I can’t wait for you to join me on my Western Australian summer reading adventures.
